What is the difference between a 'subsection' and a 'section' on a registration form?

Please note that the following article describes functionality for the new version of our form editor (v2). If you are using our legacy form editor (v1), you can still follow the article below, but the description of the options noted are different.

  • 'Section' (v2) = 'Page' (v1)
  • 'Subsection (v2) = 'Section (v1)

If you wish to switch to the new version of our editor, please contact us at getregistered® support.

A 'Section' contains 'Subsections', and both 'Sections' and 'Subsections' can contain fields for the attendee to complete.

'Sections' are not represented on your registration form as single screens that the attendees have to view individually - all sections are available on one screen.

This allows attendees to skip between sections without having to load new areas, and they can easily switch between 'Sections' by clicking on the section title displayed on the left-hand column of the registration form - this will scroll the screen to the relevant page on the form.

'Subsections' allow you to group fields/inputs together in one place within your 'Sections', providing you with further organizational options and making your registration form appear a little neater for your attendees.

Creating sections or subsections on your registration form can also make building your custom reports a lot easier, as all fields in a section/subsection will be grouped together on your report creation page - you can just click on the handy 'Select All' toggle to select all fields in your section/subsection in a single click!
