Can I create tracks that don't require an email address?

Please note that the following article shows functionality for the new version of our form editor (v2). If you are using our legacy form editor (v1), you can still use this feature following the steps in the article below. If you wish to switch to the new version of our editor, please contact us at getregistered® support.

getregistered® will always require an email address when creating new 'main attendee' registrations. However, if your organization has the 'Guest Email Optional' feature enabled, you can choose to bypass the requirement for email addresses on your guest tracks. This feature can be handy for many situations, such as family members that may not have an email address due to their age. Guests can still provide an email if they wish, but with the feature enabled, this is no longer a mandatory requirement.

To create a guest track that does not require an email, enter your event registration form and begin creating you guest track. On the form you will see the option 'Make guest email optional'. Select this checkbox to continue - you can still enable the other options displayed beneath if you would still like to use these features in conjunction with the 'guest email optional' feature:

With this feature enabled and the track saved, when either you as an admin or as an attendee reach the 'Guest' registration form, you will see the following displayed:

If you or the attendee wishes to skip adding an email address for the guest, click on the 'Continue without providing an email address' checkbox, and you will now see the email address field is now disabled/greyed-out:

When the registration is completed, you will now see that the guest registration shows as 'No email provided' in all areas that return an email address in the application, eg:

If required, once the guest is registered, as an admin you can add an email address to the registration with no email by simply choosing to edit it - when editing, just uncheck the 'Continue without providing an email address' checkbox and enter a unique email address (that does not match any existing attendees in your event) and hit 'Update Registration'. Once you have done this, the guest will now have an email address and will be able to receive email notifications from getregistered®.
